Seniors ministry here at the Lantern

Our heart for seniors

Our seniors ministry is a vibrant and welcoming community that provides a place for older adults to connect, grow, and serve. With regular events, Bible studies, and opportunities to find community, we seek to create a supportive and caring environment where seniors can thrive and be valued. All are welcome!

Shine Network

What we're up to

The Shine network is lead by the wonderful Tony and Roz Hanson and is made up of different groups which run throughout the week. All of these groups are open and would love you to come and visit. Below you'll find a list of the different events that happen during the week and services offered by the network.

The Befriending service

One-to-one companionship and support for older people living alone in our local community. This is a free service for people over 60, living alone who have very few or no social visitors. A volunteer befriender will visit the person at home for about an hour each week or fortnight. The Lantern Befriending Service is operating for local residents in partnership with The Harvey Practice Doctors Surgery. A dedicated Lantern Befriending Service leaflet (which includes a referral form) is available in the Lantern Church or the Harvey Practice. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer befriender, please contact Tony or Roz Hanson through the contact button or by phone at 07518120809.

Mixed Blessings

What’s Mixed Blessings?

Mixed Blessings is a lively club for people in the church and the community who are free to meet on a Tuesday morning. There is always time for making friends and getting to know one another better, and also planned activities, including games, talks, recitals, short Bible spots, celebrations and outings.
